There's no doubt Microsoft has matured rapidly from wanna-be to potential champion of the home console arena. Despite the inital doom and gloom, poor sales and seemingly tepid game releases, the X-Box managed to climb its way to a distinguished 2nd place. That said, there's no silver award in the ultimate race... gold is what counts! Microsoft is not a company to be toyed with however, and even though it only managed to gradually encroach on Sony's market, it has now moved up to the position of the "new kid on the block". The X-Box 360 has been launched almost a year before Sony's next-generatoion offering, and allready has exceeded market expectations. Sure the X-Box 360 is not exactly a hardware or software breakthrough, but at the end of the day, the quality of the games and the gaming experience is what counts. Despite Sony's PlayStation 3 architectural innovations, the real battle will be fought over the quality of the games. Either way, for the consumer, it's only good news... as two of the largest software/hardware/home entertainment companies in the world slug it out will only bring one thing: better games, better entertainment...
